Now we will prepare an area on the jaw, on the side of the face the will be closest to the recording device overnight. The electrodes placed here will measure muscle tone overnight which helps us determine whether a participant is awake or asleep, and to identify the moments when someone is roused from sleep.
Prepare the site that encompasses the two white dots in the image. Then dry the area and attach two circular electrodes to correspond to the areas represented by the white dots in the image.
*If the participant has facial hair in this area, prepare the alternate site at the edge of the facial-hairline, closer to the cheeks.
